This ingredient is called "hordein", which activates the reward center in our brain in a similar way to dopamine.
A study by German scientists has shown that the ingredient "beer hordein" can be responsible for mood enhancement by activating a key dopamine receptor.
They argue that hordein on the brain acts in a similar way to the hormone of happiness, and that both hordenin and domapin stimulate the so-called dopamine D2 receptor in the brain.
It is still necessary to find out if the amount of hordein contained in the beer can produce a sensible effect on the reward center. The results so far indicate that hordein could greatly contribute to improving the mood of a person who consumes beer.
For a sense of relaxation and good will, the combination of alcohol and hordein is responsible, says Monika Pishecrider, a research scientist. It also recalls that a similar effect on the brain as hordein has salsolinol, a chocolate ingredient.
"It was surprising that the substance in the beer could activate the dopamine D2 receptor, especially because we did not specifically follow the nutritional stimulants," she added.
Scientists are now trying to find out how much hordein is in beer and how much it gets into the brain. Thus, it is still not known whether the level of hordein in beer is sufficient to cause this effect. For now, it is only known that the substance itself has a certain role.
The author of the research Pischetsrieder (Pisecrider) says that the good will of an individual is not affected by just one ingredient of food or drink, but rather is a combination. For example, when it comes to snacks, like chips, good-natured triggers are fat and carbohydrates.
However, scientists warn that alcohol has the opposite, depressive action and can disrupt thoughts, balance, and even mental health. This excess of alcohol can be extremely harmful.
