Elon Musk, the owner of the company SpejsX, demonstrated his idea on the spot, reported "Verge".
He claims that this system will allow passengers to reach the furthest locations in only 30 minutes, and that they will be able to go anywhere on Earth in less than an hour, all at the price of a plane ticket in the economy class.
The mask proposed the use of a mega rocket of his company, called the BFR, which is developing, to build a massive spacecraft into Earth's orbit.
The ship would have descended down to floating landing pads, placed near large cities. Both the new rocket and the ship are currently in the theory stage, although Mask hopes to start building the BFR in the next 6-9 months.
In the video "SpejsX" that illustrates the idea of an American billionaire, passengers enter the long-boom from New York's docks, which refers to a floating launcher on the water.
They are boarding the same rocket that Mask wants to send people to Mars in 2024, but instead of going to the red planet, travelers go to Shanghai.
After 39 minutes, the rocket that left the Earth's atmosphere is coming back and sank on a floating ground 11,000 miles further from New York.
In the promotional footage Mask proposed other routes - from Hong Kong to Singapore in 22 minutes, from London to Dubai or New York for 29, or Los Angeles to Toronto for 24.
